Environmental + Social Standards for the Asian Development Bank

Context

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) adopted new environmental and social standards (ESS) for borrowers and clients in  ADB-financed projects.

Challenge

ADB needed to develop effective training materials to communicate the new ESS standards to internal and external stakeholders.

The training needed to be practical, contextual to ADB projects and geographies, and give practical and actionable lessons to participants.

The training needed to reflect strong alignment with international labour and human rights standards, and best practices.

Solution

Humantics worked with the ADB and ILO International Training Centre to develop a comprehensive e-learning and in-person training program

The training covered diverse labour and human rights risks including wages, working hours, freedom of association, discrimination, child labour, and forced labour.

Trainings comprised mixed-media formats including videos, interactive exercises, e-learning modules, and in-person training modules.
